19 easy cartoons drawings

Do you enjoy cartoons, video games, memes and other pop culture characters? If you still enjoy them as much as I do, you’re going to love this list of drawing ideas.

I’ve created these simple versions of my favorite cartoons so you can draw them too—whatever your skill level. So sharpen your pencil, open your sketchbook, and say hello to your favorite characters!

Easy cartoons to draw

1. Pikachu

Easy cartoons to draw: Pikachu

Pokémon has fans of all ages, and out of the hundreds that exist, Pikachu is probably the most popular. It’s also easy to draw because it’s basically “a little bunny” with a different kind of tail.

2. Hello Kitty

Easy cartoons to draw: Hello Kitty

A beloved classic that doesn’t need any simplification. It’s super simple as is, and once you practice a bit you’ll be able to draw it from memory perfectly.

3. SpongeBob

Easy cartoons to draw: SpongeBob

The trickiest parts of SpongeBob are the eyes and mouth. But even if you simplify them, the character is still recognizable thanks to his distinctive square shape.

4. Minion

Easy cartoons to draw: Minion

The great thing about Minions is that you can create dozens of variations from a single oval: longer, rounder, one eye or two, random tufts of hair… Before you know it, you’ll have a whole army!

5. Ladybug

Easy cartoons to draw: Miraculous Ladybug

Drawing human characters is much harder. To make them more approachable, you should change their proportions and remove lots of details. Even with just a few key features, the character is still recognisable — like Ladybug with her pigtails and polka dots.

6. K-pop Demon Hunters: Rumi

Easy cartoons to draw: Rumi from K-pop Demon Hunters

Learn this one and you’ll win over daughters, cousins and nieces aged 5 to 25. The best part is that you can dress her up in lots of different ways, just like in the film, and you can add accessories such as a sword or a microphone.

7. Stitch

Easy cartoons to draw: Stitch

This is another crowd-pleaser for little ones, and they can learn to draw it themselves. If you sit him down, his arms and legs can be simplified, making him much easier to draw.

8. Sonic

Easy cartoons to draw: Sonic

I loved this video game as a kid, and now my kids love the character from the movies and shows. Even if your drawing isn’t perfect, as long as you add the head spikes, everyone will recognise him (and you can always colour him blue).

9. Wednesday Addams

Easy cartoons to draw: Wednesday Addams

All you need to draw Wednesday Addams is black braids and a grumpy face. You can then customise her as much as you like, depending on your skill level.

10. Grogu, or Baby Yoda

Easy cartoons to draw: Grogu Baby Yoda

An adorable drawing that will make any Star Wars fan happy.

11. Bluey

Easy cartoons to draw: Bluey

There isn’t much that can be simplified with Bluey, because the original design is already quite simple. Start with a rounded rectangle and you’ll have finished it in no time.

12. Totoro

Easy cartoons to draw: Totoro

Drawing Totoro is as easy as sketching one oval inside another — almost like drawing an egg! Then just add the ears and a few more details.

13. How to Train Your Dragon: Toothless

Easy cartoons to draw: Toothless the dragon

Okay, Toothless isn’t the easiest character to draw, but if you choose the right pose, you can simplify him quite a bit. It’s not something you can achieve on your first try, but with a little practice it’s within reach.

14. Naruto

Easy cartoons to draw: Naruto

My eldest is a huge fan, so I had no choice but to include him. This is a basic version, but a decent and recognisable one.

15. Ballerina Cappuccina

Easy cartoons to draw: Ballerina Cappuccina

A great exercise for building skills is to draw a popular AI-generated image that doesn’t yet have a cartoon version. This will teach you to observe and simplify in order to make it your own. Dare you try the rest of the Italian Brainrot memes?

16. Labubu

Easy cartoons to draw: Labubu

If you have a child at home who collects Labubus, why not draw this for them to colour in their own style? They’ll love it!

17. Furby

Easy cartoons to draw: Furby

I never thought this toy would make a comeback — it was pretty embarrassing in the ’90s. The upside is that it’s quite easy to draw — like a parrot with ears — and you can customise it with lots of different features.

18. Gabby Cats

Easy cartoons to draw: Gabby Cats

Following the principle of simplifying things as much as possible, you can draw Gabby as a little girl in your own style, as long as she has curly hair, a cat-ear headband and a striped shirt.

19. Super Mario

Easy cartoons to draw: Super Mario

Another classic from my childhood that is still everywhere thanks to games and films. He’s not the easiest to draw, but I couldn’t resist adding him to the list.
