Sometimes boredom hits so hard that, even though you know you could start drawing, you can’t even think of what you could do. For those moments, here are some easy drawing ideas that might inspire you.
Drawing is one of the best activities to stop being bored, mainly because it doesn’t require any preparation. Sharpen your pencil, grab your favorite pen, open your notebook, and say goodbye to boredom!
What to draw when you’re bored
1. Surreal window
A window is as easy as drawing a rectangle, but the magic lies in that it can open to any place you can draw: a city, a landscape, nature… or even an imaginary world.
2. Stamp with landscape
The stamp can work like a picture frame, transforming everyday images into valuable objects. Draw small landscapes, simple objects, animals, etc., inside. You can fill a notebook page with an entire collection of stamps, and it will look spectacular.
3. Lit match
A very easy drawing to represent the concept of “I’m on fire” or “ignite the fire.” The trick to getting it right is to draw the match first and then the outer flame, the larger one.
If you have markers or crayons on hand, feel free to color the fire using yellow, orange, and red.
4. Farm animals
Drawing animals can be as easy as making circles and then placing the appropriate ears, nose, and tail. They are also very quick to draw; I always make them when my kids ask me to draw an animal (they don’t have the patience to wait for a more elaborate sketch).
5. Turtle
The turtle is one of the easiest animals to draw because the shell and legs are simple to make.
6. Robot
Big, small, square, or round. Drawing robots is very simple because you don’t have to worry about hands, feet, or realistic bodies. A few quick ovals, and you have a new friend.
7. Hugging heart
If there’s something we’ve all been drawing since we were little, it’s… a heart! But this time, it’s not to write the name of our crush, but to give it extra meaning with a self-hug.
8. Planets
If you draw a couple of circles, you’ll have some planets orbiting in outer space. Add some stars and have fun decorating them in different ways: dots, stripes, rings, craters, etc.
9. Waving Dog
A dog peeking out from the edge and waving with its paw. Super easy to draw and to adapt to any breed you want. For an extra touch, add a comic speech bubble with a “WOOF!” or any other word.
10. UFO Abducting a Cow
A fun drawing you can make using basic shapes. Try giving it to a friend who’s a sci-fi fan.
11. Ice Creams
Ice creams are very easy to draw because you only need basic shapes: an oval and a stick. Then you can decorate them with stripes, swirls, chocolate coating, etc.
Once drawn, it’s really fun to color them with bright colors.
12. Hot Air Balloon
A hot air balloon looks great, but it looks even better if you draw several, each with a different decorative pattern.
13. Flower and Bee
Drawing just a flower is so classic that it feels plain, but if you add a little bee, the drawing becomes much more interesting.
14. Ghost
To draw a classic ghost (like a bedsheet ghost), all you need is a rounded shape and a pair of dark eyes. They’re not that scary but definitely adorable.

A painting where part of the image breaks out of the frame is always a surprising drawing. You can use all kinds of different subjects: clouds, animals, vehicles, portraits, etc.
17. Night City
This drawing is as simple as sketching the skyline of a city with rectangular shapes and filling the sky with stars. Instead of a big city, you can also try drawing a village skyline.
18. Little Houses
We all know how to draw houses. The trick to making them look cute is to vary the proportions, sizes, windows, and doors.
19. Coffee Mug
A simple and cozy drawing — you can almost smell the warm coffee from this mug. The cup can have different shapes, sizes, and decorations.
20. Lightbulb with a Heart-Shaped Filament
You can give a regular lightbulb a special touch by drawing a meaningful shape in the filament.
21. Snow Globe
This isn’t a crystal ball for fortune telling — it’s one of those you shake and watch the snow fall. They usually have a snowman inside, but nothing stops you from drawing anything your imagination suggests.
22. Baby
Babies are super cute and can be drawn using just a few circles. If it’s round and has eyes and a mouth… it’s a baby! Try adding a pacifier, drawing it asleep, etc.

A simple drawing full of expression. Try different emojis based on the message you want to convey. And you always have your phone emojis at hand as reference.
